In a major shift to U.S. immigration policy, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has implemented a new set of mandatory fees under the H.R. 1 legislation, effective from July 22, 2025.
These fees are in addition to existing application costs and apply to asylum seekers, work permit holders, TPS applicants, and others. Notably, these new charges are non-negotiable.
Here’s a breakdown of the changes and what they mean for applicants going forward:
1. Asylum Application Fee – ₹8,300 (Approx. $100)
2. Work Permit (EAD) Fees – Up to ₹45,800 (Approx. $550)
Using Form I-765:
3. TPS Registration – ₹41,700 (Approx. $500)
4. Special Immigrant Juvenile Fee – ₹20,800 (Approx. $250)
Don’t Miss Deadlines
Applicants with asylum cases filed after October 1, 2024, will be personally notified by USCIS when their Annual Asylum Fee (AAF) is due.
Payment is required each year on the anniversary of the application until the case is resolved.
