Taiwan Introduces Mandatory Online Arrival Card from October 2025

As part of its ongoing digital transformation efforts, Taiwan is officially going paperless at its borders. Starting October 1, 2025, all travelers entering Taiwan will be required to complete the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) online - a significant shift from the traditional paper-based arrival forms previously filled out upon entry.

Key Highlights of the New TWAC System:

1. Mandatory Online Submission Before Arrival

From October 2025, all passengers must fill out the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) online within three days prior to their arrival in Taiwan. The paper-based forms will be completely phased out, marking a move toward a fully digital and more sustainable immigration process.

2. Streamlined Immigration Process

The redesigned TWAC platform is aimed at providing a faster and more user-friendly experience for travellers. With its intuitive interface and multilingual support, the system significantly reduces the time and effort typically associated with immigration documentation.

3. Multilingual Support

To accommodate international travellers, the TWAC system now supports the following languages:

  • Chinese
  • English
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Thai
  • Vietnamese
  • Indonesian

This ensures that travellers from various regions can complete the form accurately and with ease.

4. Automatic Passport Data Extraction

One of the standout features of the updated TWAC is the ability to automatically extract data from a passport photo, which streamlines the form-filling process and minimizes errors.

5. Family and Group Submissions

For families or group travellers, one person can submit the form on behalf of up to 16 individuals. This is particularly useful for tour groups or families traveling together. However, email verification remains mandatory to ensure submission accuracy and traceability.

6. Support at Check-In

To accommodate travellers who haven't registered in advance, airlines and shipping companies will display QR codes for the TWAC system at check-in counters. This ensures that even last-minute travellers can comply with the new requirements.

Conclusion: Prepare Before You Fly

Taiwan’s shift to a fully digital arrival card system reflects its commitment to modernizing travel infrastructure and providing a seamless, paper-free entry process. Whether you're traveling solo or with a group, make sure to fill out your TWAC online within three days before arrival to avoid delays and enjoy a smoother entry into Taiwan.

Travel smart. Arrive prepared. Welcome to the future of border entry.
